Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 20, 2026

Realtie (“Realtie”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is a business based in British Columbia, Canada. We make the Realtie WordPress plugin for CREA DDF® listings. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use, share and protect it, and the choices and rights you have.

We follow Canada’s federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and we handle commercial email in line with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers personal information we handle when you:

  • visit realtie.ca;
  • create an account, start a free trial or buy a subscription;
  • activate, update or use the Realtie plugin with our licence and update servers;
  • read the Realtie Handbook or contact us for support; or
  • receive emails from us.

It does not cover websites that our customers build with the Realtie plugin. Each customer is responsible for their own website, their visitors’ information and their own privacy policy (see section 6).

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account and order details: your name, email address, billing address, company or brokerage name, and phone number if you provide it.
  • Payment details: these are collected and processed by our payment processors (WooPayments, powered by Stripe, and PayPal). We do not see or store your full card number. We may receive limited details such as the card type, the last four digits, the expiry date and the payment status.
  • Support messages: what you send us by email, including screenshots, your website address, and any details or access you choose to share so we can help.

Information collected when you use the plugin

When the Realtie plugin activates, checks or deactivates your licence, or checks for updates, it sends our licence and update servers:

  • your licence key;
  • your website’s address (domain or URL);
  • the IP address of the server making the request; and
  • technical details such as the plugin version, the WordPress version and the date and time of the request.

We use this to confirm your licence, enforce the website limit of your plan, deliver updates, prevent abuse and troubleshoot problems.

The plugin does not send us your CREA DDF® credentials, your listing data, or the names or messages of people who contact you through your website.

Information collected automatically on realtie.ca

  • Logs: like most websites, our hosting servers record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device, the pages you visit and the date and time.
  • Cookies: we use the cookies needed to run the site: keeping you logged in, remembering your cart and checkout, keeping the site secure, and preventing fraud during payment (see section 9).
  • Spam protection: comments and form submissions may be checked by Akismet (by Automattic) to filter spam. This may include your IP address, browser details and what you submitted.
  • Order attribution: WooCommerce records how you found us when you place an order (for example, the referring website or campaign, the number of pages you viewed and your device type) and saves it with your order. It uses first-party cookies that start with “sbjs_”.
  • Comments: if you comment on our website, your email address may be turned into a hashed string and sent to the Gravatar service (by Automattic) to show your profile picture, if you have one.

We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics on realtie.ca. If that changes, we will update this policy first.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • create and manage your account, trial and subscription;
  • process payments, renewals, refunds and receipts, and prevent fraud;
  • issue, activate and verify licence keys, and deliver downloads and updates;
  • give you access to the Realtie Handbook and members-only content;
  • answer your questions and provide support;
  • send service emails, such as order confirmations, trial and renewal reminders, failed-payment notices, security alerts and important changes to our terms;
  • send marketing emails, but only if you have agreed to receive them;
  • keep the Services secure and working, and improve them; and
  • meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations, and protect our rights.

We only collect what we reasonably need for these purposes, and we do not use your information for unrelated purposes without your consent unless the law allows it.

4. Consent and email

  • By creating an account, buying a subscription or contacting us, you consent to us using your information as described in this policy. Some uses are implied by the service you asked for. For example, we need your email address to send you your licence key.
  • You can withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual limits. If you withdraw consent that we need to provide a service (such as licence checks), we may not be able to keep providing that service.
  • Email (CASL): we send service emails about your account and subscription as needed. We only send newsletters and promotional emails with your consent, and every marketing email includes an easy way to unsubscribe. Unsubscribing does not stop service emails about your account.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it.

We share personal information only:

  • With service providers who help us run Realtie, such as our web host (GoDaddy), our payment processors (WooPayments by Automattic with Stripe, and PayPal), WooCommerce and other Automattic services (including Akismet and Gravatar), and our email provider. They may only use your information to provide services to us, and they must protect it.
  • When the law requires it, or to respond to valid legal requests, enforce our Terms, prevent fraud, or protect the rights, property or safety of Realtie, our customers or others.
  • In a business transaction, such as a merger, financing or sale of our business. The information would remain protected by this policy or an equivalent one.
  • With your consent, or at your direction.

6. Customer websites and your visitors

If you use the Realtie plugin on your website, you control that website and the personal information it collects, such as enquiries from your visitors. You are responsible for that information under applicable privacy laws, and for having your own privacy policy. Realtie does not receive or access your visitors’ information unless you send it to us or give us temporary access to your website for a support request. If we need temporary access to your website to help you, we use it only for that support request.

7. Where your information is stored

We are based in Canada. Some of our service providers, including our payment processors and Automattic, store or process information in other countries, including the United States. When information is outside Canada, it is subject to the laws of that country, and courts, law enforcement or national security authorities there may be able to access it. We choose providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to Canadian law, and we use contracts and other safeguards where appropriate.

8. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as required by law. For example:

  • Orders, invoices and payment records: at least six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as Canadian tax law requires;
  • Account, subscription and licence information: while your account is active, and for up to two years after your subscription ends, so you can come back and so we can handle questions or disputes;
  • Support emails: up to three years after the conversation ends;
  • Server and security logs: usually up to 90 days, unless we need them longer to investigate a security issue.

When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

9. Cookies

We use these cookies on realtie.ca:

  • Essential cookies from WordPress and WooCommerce, to log you in, keep your cart and checkout working, and remember basic preferences;
  • Payment and fraud-prevention cookies from our payment processors (such as Stripe and PayPal) during checkout; and
  • Order attribution cookies (names starting with “sbjs_”) from WooCommerce, which remember how you arrived at our site so it can be saved with your order. They expire after your visit or within a few months.
  • Security cookies, to protect the site from spam and abuse.

Most of these cookies are needed for the site to work. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site, such as logging in and checkout, may then stop working.

10. How we protect your information

We use reasonable safeguards for the sensitivity of the information. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), payment processing by PCI-compliant providers, access limited to the people who need it, strong passwords and account security, and keeping our software up to date. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach of security creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the appropriate privacy authorities as the law requires.

11. Your rights and choices

You can:

  • ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and how it has been used and shared;
  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete (you can also update most account details yourself in My Account);
  • withdraw consent or unsubscribe from marketing emails; and
  • ask us to delete your information. We will do this where we can, but we may need to keep some records, such as invoices, to meet legal obligations.

To make a request, email us (see section 14). We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within 30 days, or tell you if we need more time as the law allows. Access requests are free in most cases.

12. Children

The Services are for businesses and professionals and are not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the date at the top and email active customers at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

14. Contact us and complaints

Our Privacy Officer is responsible for how we handle personal information. For questions, requests or complaints, email support@realtie.ca with “Privacy” in the subject line.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
